Maja Kuzmanovic and Nik Gaffney participate at the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders' Summit and Annual Meeting of New Champions in Dalian, China. Maja is a panelist at the opening panel of the YGL summit - "Protecting the Asset" on the 12th of September at 09:30 and she moderates a session on "Building Bridges with Brushstrokes", with Drue Kataoka on the 16th of September at 14:15.

Halikonlahti Green Art is a collection of art exhibits which winds round the Bay of Halikko. The 2011 festival is the third of a series of 3 exhibitions exploring Art and Ecology in the Baltic Sea Region, focusing mainly on the aspects of landuse, energy, production, nutrition, waste and politics.

FoAM is participating with 2 art-works and 1 worklab.

FoAM in Brussels hosts a two-day tutorial on creating Alternate Reality Games, facilitated by Adrian Hon & Matt Wieteska of Six to Start.

Rocketboat Day promises a blend of backyard naval architecture and rocket science.

Rocketboat Day 1 is to be a participatory event where people build little boats, power them with rocket engines and race them to see which one gets the furthest. The inaugural event will take place on a nice, calm bit of water somewhere in Brussels. Let's find out what happens when you attach a C6 model rocket engine to a boat made out of anything you can get your hands on. The cool breeze off the water will blow the sweet acrid smoke across your face like a lovers caress.

On the 27th of April, Palm Top Theatre exhibition travelled to the new location of EMAF festival. Together with other two artworks, 'Immanentia', was selected to be part of European Media Art Festival in Osnabrueck, Germany
The EMAF is one of the most important forums of international Media Art, and is an open laboratory for creative and artistic experiments that help shape media and the aesthetics of their content.

In Pula's emerging cultural centre 'Galerija Makina', Maja Kuzmanovic talks about FoAM's approach to food & resilience, diet as medicine, kitchen art & science, urban hunting & gathering and other topics collected in the Open Sauces book. Several delicacies from this book will be spiced up with seasonal Istrian wild foods and offered for degustation.

The March Long Now Brussels meetup will take place Wednesday 23 March 02011 at 19:00 at FoAM Belgium. (Please note the scheduling change!)

We'll be checking out Rachel Sussman's Long Now talk entitled ?The World's Oldest Living Organisms?. Rachel Sussman is a photographer whose works have been showcased throughout Europe and North America. (Perhaps you've seen some of her work already.) Her project has carried her around the world to document ancient lifeforms.

RadioMUS-E – Lunch with Insects

On March 1st 2011, two school classes visit FoAM to broadcast their radio-programme and investigate edible insects.

In RADIOMUS-E children of elementary class develop and produce a radio-transmission based on the Flemish classic 'Erik of het klein insektenboek' by Godfried Bomans. Following two months of work with Elias Vervecken (bruitage) en Rebecca Lenaerts (theatre, radiostories), two classes from two Brussels' schools (De Wimpel, Elsene and St-Joris, Brussels), get a chance to meet each other on the 1st of March at FoAM.

We live in an era of distant frontiers. The seas (spanning 71% of Earth's surface) might one day support permanent human settlements - but few take that distant possibility seriously. Recent exoplanet discoveries are tremendously exciting yet space remains, for all but the very few, almost unthinkable.

Maja Kuzmanovic moderates a conversation with Aaron Koblin at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. The conversation will focus on fusing art, science and technology in the digital age.

Aaron Koblin is an artist specializing in data visualization; work takes social and infrastructural data and uses it to depict cultural trends and emergent patterns.

The January Long Now Brussels meetup will take place Thursday 13 January 02011 at 19:00 at FoAM Belgium.
